Guiding Question: What are the practical concerns and approaches for collaborating within our sector and utilizing our collections to tell under-told stories?

Program Description: This facilitated dialogue invites participants to explore the Northern Slavery Collective (NorSC) as a framework for inclusive history. This program will provide the background of the development of NorSC and its work to date in building collaborative partnerships to tell under-told stories rooted in the histories and collections of historic sites, museums, archives, libraries, and historical societies across New York State. This program will address how NorSC’s model can open our organizations to broader understandings of historical and modern New Yorkers through collections accessibility and interpretation, community outreach, and programming. This dialogue is co-facilitated by members of NorSC. This program is designed for people who work in or volunteer for museums, libraries, archives, and cultural heritage organizations and/or sites, and are looking for practical approaches and strategies to collaboration within the sector as well opportunities to more authentically tell under-told stories.
