Update: Spring Conversations on Local History to Move Online

Fri, 04/03/2020 - 16:22
DHPSNY Staff

In light of COVID-19, DHSPNY and NYCON are working to pivot the upcoming Conversations on Local History to be hosted online. We are appreciative of the positive response so far, from those who have registered, expressed interest, and submitted comments or questions regarding the accessibility of the regional schedule.

The key change is that the Capital District, Western New York, and Northern New York Conversations will be conducted online via Zoom on following dates:

  • Capital District: Tuesday, April 21, 2:00 PM
  • Western New York: Thursday, April 23, 10:00 AM
  • Northern New York: Friday, May, 9:30 AM

These virtual Conversations will remain focused on the regions of New York State in order to facilitate discussion, but individuals from other regions are welcome to attend any Conversation. While we intend to make these discussions accessible to everyone in New York State, in order to send the correct Zoom Meeting link to interested participants, we ask that you to register here.

DHPSNY will continue to assess the remaining dates for scheduled Conversations on Local History on an ongoing basis (dates and locations listed below). If in-person gatherings are not an option in June 2020, we will shift these scheduled dates to be online discussions as well. Dates and times for each regional Conversation will remain the same, but will be hosted virtually.

If you are unable to attend these virtual Conversations on Local History, we are developing other channels of communication and ways for you to participate in the DHSPNY Statewide Documentation Planning Project! Please take this 15-minute survey to help us understand a wider range of responses to your organization’s collecting practices and perspective on local history. Additionally, keep an eye out on the DHPSNY Facebook Community Group for more informal conversations around these topics.

Thank you for your interest and support, and for the continued flexibility in this time of necessary changes.

Best,
The DHPSNY Team
