Happy Valentine’s Day from everyone at DHPSNY! Our gift to you this year is a lovely assortment of new workshops for 2018, presented in 15 locations throughout New York State. As always, DHPSNY's education programs are presented free of charge for New York institutions.

This year's workshops include sessions on identifying preservation needs while processing collections, an introduction to the basics of preserving photographic collections, and half-day sessions dedicated to mold prevention and recovery…

Earlier this week, DHPSNY Preservation Specialist Gillian Marcus presented Mold: Prevention, Detection, and Response, perhaps our grossest webinar since Gillian's Pest Management presentation last year. This webinar identified the many species of mold commonly found in archival collections and explained how they reproduce, the environmental factors that affect their growth, and how you can prevent and mitigate damage.

Just before the holidays, we announced our first Planning & Assessment Services application period of 2018. Hello, 2018! It's chilly this week at DHPSNY HQ—not quite as bad as conditions in this photo, but close. Despite the low temperatures, our spirits couldn't be higher as we look ahead to all that we have in store.
