Reminder: Planning & Assessment Services Applications Now Open
Just before the holidays, we announced our first Planning & Assessment Services application period of 2018. DHPSNY accepts applications year-round, with three review deadlines scheduled throughout the year in the spring, summer, and fall. The deadline to apply for the spring 2018 round is Friday, March 16th.

For the latest chat in our ongoing series, we caught up with Robert Clark, Director of Archives at the Rockefeller Archive Center in Sleepy Hollow, Westchester County. The Archive Center houses a number of historic collections and supports hundreds of important research projects each year. DHPSNY Archives Specialist Amelia Parks led a very imformative presentation, discussing strategies for planning and installing exhibits of archival collections using preservation quality materials and following best practices for preservation strategies.
Interview: FASNY Museum of Firefighting
Earlier this month, we began a new series of brief conversations with library, museum, and archives professionals and volunteers from around New York State. In our latest installment, we caught up with Jamie Quinn, Executive Director at the Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) Museum of Firefighting in Hudson, New York. Jamie has been at the Museum for 12 years and overseen the continued expansion of an archival collection of handwritten journals, service manuals, photographs, and other items that document the history of firefighting, from the lives of the firefighters themselves to the evolution of its tools and its depiction in popular culture and fine art.
